Reisen (Cool Water Spring) in Hata
畑の冷泉
The water from reisen (a cool water spring) was once considered holy, and was used by mountain and Shinto priests at Kubote in purification rituals. The cool water spring that bubbles up from the roots of an 800-year-old giant camphor tree has been converted into a “watering hole” where many visitors gather to chat. People seeking a break from the summer heat can take a refreshing dip in the cool water baths at Reisenkan, or grab a bite to eat at the Reisen Teahouse. There is also a river pool where kids can cool off. Why not take a cool bath after an invigorating hike on the surrounding Inugatake or Kubote Mountains? Enjoy seasonal events such as mountain vegetable picking in the spring, playing in the mountain stream and camping in the summer and fall, and sleighing in the winter.
*About the Springs: Effective in treating skin diseases and heat rash.
