Makinohara Camping Ground

牧の原キャンプ場

This campground is overflowing with rich greenery and nature so much so that you’ll want to take a deep breath.

Located within the Yaba-Hita-Hikosan Quasi-National Park, this campground is rich in nature and was selected as one of the 100 top places to immerse yourself in the forest, or “forest bathing”, in Fukuoka. They offer mountain huts (for 30 or 50 guests) and bungalows (for 4, 6, or 10 guests), so in addition to use by families, friends, and small groups, they can also be used by clubs or parents and children’s groups. They have also recently opened a tent site allowing for you to enjoy nature to the fullest by staying overnight in your tent. Meanwhile, they also offer other facilities for parents and children to enjoy, like the Goemon Buro style baths that are nostalgic for Japanese guests, and a stone oven for baking pizzas.  The camp is also adjacent to the source of the Kii River, where even small children can safely enjoy playing in the water, and fishing is also available. The Bussankan Makochi-no-Sato facility on the site also offers a cafeteria and local crafts for sale.
