Kurume Kusano History Museum
久留米市立草野歴史資料館
On display at the Kurume Kusano History Museum are materials related to the Kusano clan (a royal family that enjoyed influence in the Chikugo area during the Middle Ages) and the history of the surrounding area. In addition to shrines and temples linked to the Kusano clan as well as the ruins of their mountain castle, a historic district remains in the city of Kusano-machi in eastern Kurume to this day, giving the area an ambiance steeped in tradition. Housed in the former Kusano Bank Headquarters (built in 1911), the museum was remodeled and opened to the public in 1984 and is now a Government-Registered Cultural Asset. A special exhibit can be seen from early March through early May.
*About the Museum: Government-Registered Cultural Asset. Area - 176.9 square meters (1904 square feet)
