Kurume Forest Tsutsuji Park
久留米森林つつじ公園
The ’Kurume Azaleas’ specific to the Kurume region are designated Fukuoka’s ”Prefectural tree” and this park is dedicated to them.
At this beautiful location where you can see both the Chikugo River and the Chikugo Plains, 62,000 azaleas of 100 different types are planted, and from mid-April to early May is the time to see them bloom. There are also historical ruins and a mountain climbing road, so many visitors come here all year long to enjoy picnicing and walking through the woods.
