Yatai (Food Stalls)
屋台
Hakata’s yatai food stalls emerged in the dilapidated streets of the city after World War Two as simple mobile restaurants. Many yatai can be found in Nagahama and Tenjin. Some of the most common offerings are ramen, dumplings, oden fish cake stew and tempura. They are frequented by residents, tourists and business travelers alike.
