Yanagibashi United Market Cooperative
柳橋連合市場協同組合
Five minutes drive from Hakata Station! Hakata's kitchen, frequented by everyone from professional chefs to housewives.
A market where professional chefs come to stock up on fresh fish from the Genkai Sea, spicy cod roe and other Hakata delicacies. Shops, mainly fresh fish shops, are crammed into a 1m-wide alley.
In addition to fruit and vegetable shops and Japanese confectionery shops, there are also shops selling kelp, salted and dried fish and pickles, offering a full range of products. In winter, this is the kitchen of Hakata, where visitors come to enjoy natural fugu (blowfish), anglerfish, arabesque fish and other delicacies.
There are also restaurants, cafés and shops with eat-in spaces, so hungry tourists are sure to be satisfied! It is also easily accessible, just a 5-minute drive from Hakata Station. Shipping is also available, so don't worry if you buy a lot of souvenirs!
The market is a fun place to chat with shopkeepers in the old-fashioned face-to-face sales style with a lively Hakata dialect. Feel free to ask them to show you how to cook the ingredients.
