Korokan Ruins

鴻臚館跡

The Korokan was used as a reception hall to entertain diplomatic missions during the Nara and Heian periods (the early 8th - early 12th centuries). There is a restored ”accommodation chamber” from the period. Chinese porcelain from the seventh till the eleventh centuries and glassware from Western Asia are on display. In the exhibition hall, there is a restored building, archeological relics and videos about the site.
