Sannoji Wind Bell Festival
山王寺 風鈴祭り
Taste the cool air at Tanukiji Temple! Popular photo spots in Sasaguri
Sannoji Temple is also known as one of the 88 sacred places in Sasaguri Shikoku. The temple is also called "Tanukidera" because of the cute tanuki ornaments decorated here and there in the precincts.
The "Wind Bell Festival" is held every year from May to early October. Many visitors are attracted by the spectacular sight and beautiful sound of approximately 4,000 colorful wind chimes decorated by the temple priests. In recent years, the festival has attracted attention as a photojournalistic spot. Visitors can buy the wind chimes and make their own dedications, so why not write your wishes on them and display them?
The wind chimes will be illuminated during the consecutive holidays in September. Please enjoy the fantastic sight of the wind chimes illuminated by various colors of lights.
