Superb View of Itoshima From Mt. Tateishi - Just 60-Minutes to the Top!

Mt. Tateishi in Itoshima is a small mountain with a height of just 210 meters, but it’s also a hidden gem boasting incredible 360-degree panoramic views!
It takes about 60 minutes to reach the summit from the trailhead, and is easy enough to be climbed by beginners. Below, you can see as far as the white sandy beach and green pines of Nigi no Matsubara along the coastline, as well as Fukuoka's remote island of Himeshima, and even Karatsu in Saga Prefecture.
You’ll also notice a pointed rocky mountain that stands out among the beautiful landscape. This is Keya no Oto, a 90-meter cave formed by erosion from the strong waves of Itoshima. It is one of the region’s most famous attractions, and can be explored on a sightseeing boat.

Access 30 Minutes by bus from Chikuzen-Maebaru Station on the JR Chikuhi Line, get off the Showa Bus at ”Keya,” to the left of Keya Beach Hotel (now closed) is Tateishisan Nature Trail Course/ Get off Nishi Kyushu Expressway- Maebaru Interchange, toward Keya via Prefectural Highway 54.
