Walk through Hiraodai, one of the three biggest ’karsts’ in Japan, at Mt. Nukis

日本三大カルストのひとつ平尾台を歩く貫山

Walk through ’Hiraodai’, one of the 3 biggest ’karsts’ in Japan as you head toward the summit. The herds of sheep in the fields with countless limestones is a truly beautiful sight. From near the summit you can look down and see Suonada and Hibikinada. Recommended visit times include the period after the fields are burned in spring when you can see the shining fresh greenery, as well as the lingering pampas grass in autumn.

Fukiage Pass Parking Lot ~ Mt. Ohira ~ Mt. Nukisan ~ Chagatoko Park ~ Fukiage Pass Parking Lot. Total walking time is around 3 1/2 hours. Altitude 712m, around 8.4km long.

Access	Take a Community taxi ”Odekake Kotsu Karsts-go”from JR Ishihara machi station and disembark at Fukiage Pass.
