酒蔵
Abundant in quality water and fresh produce, Fukuoka Prefecture is home to some of the best sake breweries in all of Japan. There are about 70 producers here producing over a few hundred brands of alcoholic beverage to the rest of the country. Among them is Chikugo-Jojima which began its operation way back in the mid Edo period. It quickly established notoriety then on and eventually earning the renowned tagline among the sake community - ””Jojima of the West”” - as opposed to ””Nada of the East”” which was a coveted brand at that time.
Sake making for the regional market is also vibrant in Fukuoka as well. The history of Hakata Shuzo also goes back to the Edo period. Today, much of sake considered Hakata Shuzo out on the market is dominated by 100% wheat based brands. However, there are those that are sesame based and carrot based as well. Such innovative and creative sake are only possible because it’s done in Fukuoka. Enjoy the great variety of ”Fuku-sake” made only possible here in this rich, fertile land of Fukuoka Prefecture.
