Umi-ing Oshima

うみんぐ大島

Aim for a big catch like a red sea bream or kingfish
Enjoy a day at Umi-ing Oshima. You can also fish for black porgy

■Enjoy fishing all day
With breakwaters that are 300m long and 12m wide, there are fishing spaces on both sides of the central canal, and visitors can enjoy fishing for a variety of different fish throughout the year. In spring it seems that visitors can expect well-shaped horse mackerel and Japanese black porgy.
There are three 20m x 30m fish tanks surrounded by fishing seats, where intermediate/advanced fishers can show their skills and challenge red sea bream, yellowtail, kingfish and more. Children can also receive instruction so they can have fun too, so everyone from beginners to serious fishers can enjoy the pleasures of fishing.

■Lots of experiences for getting close to the ocean
At the facility’s bay there is a menu of two-person kayaking experiences, instructor-guided fish/shellfish observation along the seashore at low tide, making crafts with driftwood/shells (beach combing), fish-cleaning and fish drying, and many more fun experiences. They offer group learning plans and school group plans as well.
