This trolley train, pulled by a marine blue diesel locomotive, travels a historic and romantic port town. It departs from Kyushu Railway Museum Station, just outside JR Mojiko Station, passes through Idemitsu Museum of Arts Station and Norfolk Square Station, and then traverses through a tunnel before arriving at its final stop, Kanmon Kaikyo Mekari Station. From the train window, you can enjoy the view of the fashionable Mojiko Retro District and the magnificent Kanmon Straits. Enjoy the leisurely clickety-clack of the train on this 2.1-km, 10-minute excursion.
On the second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays of each month, the “Dusk Trolley” allows you to enjoy the sunset and night views while feeling the sea breeze and splashing waves of the straits.
The “Clover Ticket,” which allows visitors to enjoy the Kanmon area by land and sea, is particularly recommended. Get off at “Kanmon Kaikyo Mekari Station” and take a walk in Mekari Park. After that, cross over to Shimonoseki, Honshu, through Japan's only undersea humanitarian tunnel, and take the Sanden Bus from the Mimosuogawa bus stop to the Karato area, famous for its market and aquarium. The tour concludes with a return trip from Shimonoseki Karato to Moji Port by “Kanmon Kisen” boat. We hope you will experience a new way to enjoy the Kanmon area.
