Yabe River Headwaters Park
矢部川源流公園
Nice natural pool upstream from the dam! Parents and children can play together and enjoy the whole day!
About an hour and a half drive from central Fukuoka City. Yabe River Headwaters Park, located at the headwaters of the clear Yabe River and upstream from the Hyuukagami Dam, was developed as a park where visitors can play in the river.
The "Fureai Pool," which uses the natural river as it is, can be used free of charge and is filled with the smiling voices of children during the summer. There are also many other spots to enjoy such as the waterfront plaza and the giant sundial!
The Yabe Festival is held every November, when the leaves turn red and the season is at its best. In addition to raffles and quizzes, various events are planned, such as a cockerel-dog race and performances of local entertainment. The local JA (Japan Agricultural Cooperatives) also opens a stall to sell fresh vegetables, and the festival is the most popular festival in the village, attracting many tourists every year.
