Mojiko Yaki Curry
門司港焼きカレー
Yaki curry is curry with rice topped with cheese and/or egg heated in oven.
Mojiko Yaki Curry Club was founded in March 2007 by a group of Yaki curry restaurants for the purpose of creating a brand of curry appealing to the rest of Japan. Yaki curry itself was started back in the 50s and 60s. Legend has it that a local restaurant owner stuck a leftover curry in the oven for more texture, and the rest is history. Being that it was historically a trading port, Mojiko is known for its international flair; yaki curry is no exception. It is now a locals’ favorite. Many varieties of original yaki curry are springing up in the area. Grab a copy of Mojiko Yaki Curry Map and try out the 25 establishments and their versions of Moji specialty dish.
