【Day1】10:50 Arrival at Yame Fukushima
The central part of Yame City (formerly Fukushima Town) is a historical district. In 1601, Fukushima Castle was expanded and later abandoned, but Fukushima remained as a merchant town. Since then, Yame Fukushima developed as a transportation hub and as a distribution center for goods. The white-walled streets of Yame Fukushima are a nationally designated Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The town houses of Yame Fukushima are mostly in the storehouse style, in a combination of merchant and craftsman's workshop colors. About 150 buildings representing the traditional styles of four different eras of Japan stand together along the old Oshu road.
