Located in the western part of the Fukuoka City area, Itokoku appears in the Chinese history book Gishiwajinden (first history of Japan). Now, it has buildings and museums that tell of that history. There are facilities where various experiences can be had and allotment gardens are available. Different events are held with the changing of seasons. The Itokoku Market is a store managed by a group of producers that sells fresh vegetables, fruits, and other agricultural products every morning. An array of delicious local food products such as pickles, handmade hams and sausages, processed goods, rich dishes, etc. are also available inside. The market is complete with a dining area so customers can eat what they purchase.
