Since its opening in the early Meiji period (1868-1912), Mojiko has carved its history as a port town that supported modern Japan. Mojiko Retro, one of Kyushu's most popular tourist destinations, is known for the many atmospheric buildings that still remain from the prosperous days of the port.
Mojiko Retro is especially popular from autumn through the New Year, when a wide variety of events are held! The historical buildings and tree illuminations beautifully decorate the town.

At midnight on January 1, a festive fireworks display will be set off to mark the start of the New Year. Let's welcome the New Year with renewed spirit and splendor, as we bid farewell to last year and share the countdown to the New Year with our loved ones.
