Rikitake Kamado Shrine
力武竈門神社
This is one of the three shrines that speak of the connections between Dazaifu and Kamado Shrine.
Here, the deities Tamayorihime-no-Mikoto, known as the goddess of marriage, and Yamashitakage-Hime-no-Mikoto, mother of Kouratamatare-no-Mikoto, are enshrined. The Kanenki, recorded in 1749, states, “Yamashitakage-Hime-no-Mikoto is enshrined at this shrine, which is located at the site where the tomb of Yamashitakage-Hime-no-Mikoto was located.”
The wisteria trellis at the front of the shrine is best viewed from mid April through early May. This shrine is said to be the oldest building in Ogori, and the aspect of an ancient temple that it presents is enchanting.
